This film was produced for my University’s Basic Cinematography class. This film was my first film produced as part of my film program and my first film to be shot on 16mm. The idea for the film grew out of a desire to make a film that would be worthy of the time, effort, and money that would be spent on producing a film on 16mm. I have always had the desire to tell familiar stories from a point of view that is rarely or never represented. When people think or talk about the issue of abortion, the perspective of the guy involved is rarely recognized, and if it is, people often assume that the guy is relieved or happy that the abortion saved him from having the unexpected pregnancy interfere with his life. However, not all guys react to an unexpected pregnancy in the stereotypical manner. Instead, many guys are deeply affected by abortions, and their point of views often remain unrecognized by the general public. I wanted to make a film that explored a guy’s perspective on an abortion without trying to raise its moral issues.
